Engineered for professional rack builds, this custom 1U panel from LM Tour Systems delivers strength, clean labeling, and long-term reliability in demanding environments.

The panel is machined from .125” brushed aluminum — significantly thicker than many off-the-shelf pre-punched alternatives. After fabrication, it receives a black anodized finish for superior wear resistance compared to standard powder-coated panels. Integrated reinforcement flanges along the top and bottom edges add rigidity and help prevent flexing or deformation under load.

Eight industry-standard D-size (15/16”) cutouts are precisely punched to accommodate common audio, video, and power connectors. Each position is laser-etched with clear numbering and includes a dedicated label field, giving installers a clean, professional way to identify connections in permanent installs or touring systems.

Why Not 16 Punches in 1U?

While it’s physically possible to fit sixteen D-size openings in a single rack space, doing so removes a substantial amount of structural material. For mobile and touring applications, this significantly reduces panel strength and increases the risk of bending.

LM Tour Systems prioritizes durability. Our panels use .125” aluminum — thicker than many mass-produced options. Panels offering 16 punches are often made from thinner .063” aluminum to clear reinforcement flanges, resulting in a weaker structure overall. In flypack environments where space is at a premium, some builders may accept that compromise. Our design philosophy favors long-term reliability over maximum connector density. LM Tour Systems does offer a beautifully overkill 16 punch panel in a 3U format if you would like the ultimate severe duty panel.
