Description:

This custom case built by LM Cases is designed specifically to hold an Allen & Heath QU-16 digital mixing console. Because of the unique shape of the QU-16 chassis, several different foam densities and materials are used throughout the interior to properly support and protect the console.

The interior incorporates 2” PE foam along with heavier-density 4 lb. PE foam positioned at the front and rear of the console to provide additional support around the wrist rest and rear section of the chassis. Non-abrasive XLPE crosslink foam is used where the lid makes contact with the top of the console. This material provides support without using an abrasive surface against the controls and finish of the mixer.

The QU-16 is also captured beneath a dedicated front foam block, helping keep the console securely located inside the case during transport. The combination of different foam types allows the interior to support the console at specific structural points rather than placing unnecessary pressure on knobs, faders or other sensitive controls.

The lightweight ATA-style exterior is constructed from ¼” plywood laminated with your choice of ABS plastic colors. The hardware package includes three recessed handles and LM Cases’ Tilt N’ Travel option, which incorporates a telescoping multi-stage pull handle and 3” inboard dolly casters.

Unlike casters mounted directly on the outside corners of a case, the Tilt N’ Travel casters are recessed inboard from the corners. This helps protect the wheels if the case is placed or dropped onto an edge or corner. The casters are mounted using custom fabricated threaded plates and are designed to be field replaceable using standard 10-32 rack screws.

This case provides a compact, purpose-built transport solution for Allen & Heath QU-16 consoles used in live sound, touring, corporate AV, houses of worship and other professional production applications.
