Description:

LM Cases Super Duty trunks are designed for demanding touring and production applications where high load capacity and long-term durability are required. Each trunk in the series is constructed from ¾” Baltic Birch plywood. The cabinet panels are joined using glue-activated dowels and heavy-duty lag screws. The dowels are manufactured to a tight tolerance and require a dedicated press to assemble the panels, while the lag screws provide a secondary mechanical method of joinery for added redundancy. The case bottom is constructed from two layers of ¾” Baltic Birch for a total thickness of 1.5”, providing additional support for dense loads such as feeder cable, Socapex, multicore, rigging hardware and other heavy production equipment. 

A recessed hand slot is incorporated into the lid to assist with opening and closing the case. Internal Baltic Birch alignment strips positively locate the lid when closed and help prevent the lid from racking during transport. A removable ¾” Baltic Birch center divider is included and can be used to split the trunk into two approximately 21” wide compartments. 

We refer to the hardware used on the Super Duty series as “double recessed.” Each piece of exterior hardware is installed within a CNC-routed recess that follows the profile of the mounting flange. This additional recess allows the heads of the mounting screws to sit below the surrounding case surface, helping prevent interference with adjacent cases and equipment. The double-recessed construction is used around the case latches, handles, hinge and stacking caster wells. 

The black hardware package includes MOL-style latches, recessed handles, corner guards and flat triangle corners. Deep recessed stacking caster wells are machined into the lid to accept the casters of matching Super Duty trunks and provide a more positive interlock when cases are stacked. The case rides on heavy-duty 4” x 2” Colson casters and is intended for use as a feeder trunk, utility trunk, cable trunk or general-purpose heavy-duty touring case.
